Today I met up with a new client to discuss their new branding project a little more and to also put faces to their names too.
I can not wait to start working on their logo and branding etc. They have so many great ideas for their new start-up business and they’re also so enthusiastic about the adventure they’re going on, it was great to see and experience.
I initially spoke to them on the phone about what they are hoping to achieve with their new business. I then emailed them with a set of questions I use for every new client to answer. It not only helps me fully understand what it is they are wanting to achieve and what kind of goals they have, what messages they want to get across through the designs, but I’ve also found it helps clients too, because there may be a question there, which they’ve not really thought about until now.
Here are some example questions I always ask:
About what you do – if you could give me an insight into:
- Your USPs.
- What services you offer.
- Why a person should choose you and your company.
- What makes you stand out from your competitors.
- Who are your competitors.
If you’re starting out in business, or thinking of setting one up, sit down with a pad of paper and a pen and think about the above. This will help enormously, not only with the design work but also with your brand voice and values too.
