Designing in Canva can either be overwhelming, time consuming and frustrating, or quick and easy.
Which camp do you fall into?
Last week I hosted a FREE 5-day challenge to help lots of female entrepreneurs design social media graphics with confidence in Canva. Throughout the challenge we looked at how cohesive their current graphics were and we also looked at colours, fonts and layouts including spacing, proportions and more. There were daily actions to take including designing some graphics and a few of the ladies had the opportunity to have their designs critiqued by me live, which was so much fun.
So why am I telling you this?
Well, if you begrudgingly use Canva to DIY your designs and you feel like you waste hours at a time designing in Canva, you get really frustrated with how to make the designs look nice and in the end they still look homemade, then I have some top tips to share with you.
It’s not just you
When I first started studying graphic design for my Foundation Degree, we would spend 3-4 weeks on one design project and then we had to present our designs to everyone ready to be critiqued. We all struggled, we all had room for improvement. This is exactly the same for you – you are not alone, so don’t be so hard on yourself. There are plenty of other business owners out there feeling the same frustration and overwhelm as you, settling for second best and just creating graphics that ‘will do’ or scrapping their efforts completely.
Your time is precious
As a business owner, Mum and running a house on top of everything else, your time is precious. So spending hours in Canva doubting your own efforts, trying to make your designs look professional is a complete waste of time. However, having the right tools and resources to hand could save you masses of time.
It’s okay to ask for help
Admitting defeat is never a bad thing. It means you have had the courage to ask for help and there is support out there. Before you waste any more of your precious time, ask for help. It’s the best thing you can do to help you move forward and move into using Canva quickly and easily.
I don’t want you to think it’s you. I don’t want you thinking it’s because you’re not very creative, you’re just throwing things together and hoping for the best or it’s because you’re not very techy so you’re not really sure what you’re doing anyway. Self doubt can creep in so badly at times to the point where we can give up…
Well, I don’t want you to give up. Instead I want to help you as much as I can. So, now that my challenge has ended, I’ve decided to pull all the bonus material together for you to download so it can help you when you’re designing in Canva going forwards.
The Canva Bonus Bundle includes:
• The difference between jpegs and png’s
• 18 social media graphic layouts
• 22 social media graphic ideas
• The four basic font styles explained including how to pair them.
