Can you describe your brand in three words?
Now I want you to think about your ideal clients and current customers you absolutely adore working with. Would they say the same three words about your brand? This is what brand perception is all about.
Is your brand reflecting the three words you chose?
You want to make sure your visual branding and branding as a whole is reflecting those three words across everything you do; your brand experience, your printed materials, your social media, the service you’re providing and so on. If they’re not, what changes do you need to make so that they are? How can you reflect and infuse those three words within everything you do?
If you don’t know what three words your ideal customers would use to describe your brand, why not ask them? This is one of the best things that you can do.
You’re here to help your customers. You’re here to help solve their problems and you’ll have a client base already – ideal clients you’re working with already. So why not ask them to describe your brand in three words, because they are the perfect people to ask.
It could be their answers are different to yours or they come up with something that you hadn’t even considered. All you have to do is say, “How would you describe my brand in three words?” And see what comes up. Then you want to have a look at what they came up with and ask yourself these three questions:
- Are their answers in alignment with yours?
- Is there anything missing?
- How can you reflect and infuse your chosen three words more into your visual branding?
Everyone has their own brand perception and sometimes being in business means you’re always within it. How often do you take yourself out of your business to look at it from the outside in?
If you have a clear idea as to how you want your brand to be perceived and the words you get back from your customers are not what you’re trying to perceive with your branding, then it’s going to give you an indicator of what you need to work on going forwards.
It could be you need to rethink your visuals and the story they are telling, especially if you’re using a visual platform like Instagram to market your business.
